Windows and doors made of GEALAN profile systems do not require any special maintenance. However, as with any product, even the highest quality metal-plastic window requires maintenance. It is not necessary to call specialists. You can take care of plastic windows with your own hands.
With the following recommendations from the company LÜMICO you will extend the life of your new wonderful windows!
Useful advice: if you are doing repairs and have metal windows already installed – open them to a minimum, and after the repair (if there was a lot of building dust) be sure to call a specialist to completely clean (with removal) and lubricate the fittings.
The first is plastic care: Never use abrasive or aggressive chemical (containing chlorine, alcohol and other additives designed to actively combat dirt) detergents to care for plastic windows. Even if at first you feel that nothing is happening to your plastic window, after a while you may be unpleasantly surprised by the colour of your once white window. You can use degreasing detergents or a simple warm soapy water to care for the plastic window surface. We also recommend using soft sponges.
Second – care of double-glazed windows: A double-glazed window in a metal-plastic window does not differ from ordinary glass and should be cared for in the same way. Just a reminder: avoid getting detergents on plastic parts, and, what is very important – do not allow alcohol-containing substances to get on the rubber seal.
Third – maintenance of fittings: LUMICO recommends that all moving parts of fittings are lubricated once a year. Please note that many hardware manufacturers place “oil” or “droplet” icons at appropriate locations. Use oil that does not contain resins or acids. Normal machine oil or sewing machine oil will do.
Fourth – maintenance of the sealant for plastic windows: we recommend cleaning the sealant at least once every six months (at least in spring and autumn). This window element is primarily responsible for keeping heat in your home, no drafts, protection from street dust and noise. With a simple soapy water solution and a soft sponge or cloth, rinse the sealant, dry it and apply silicone grease. Silicone grease for car seals is also suitable for this purpose.
Fifth, drain holes: If you open the sash, there should be holes in the lower part of the frame – the drainage channels. As their name makes clear, they are drain holes, they serve to draw moisture, water out of the frame. Make sure that they do not become clogged.
If you do not have the time and opportunity to take care of plastic windows with your own hands, you can invite specialists who for a modest fee will quickly and professionally conduct all the work.
